Hey guys
I was taking a break from the shop and went to the Record Theatre to grab some music. My intentions was to grab some Jimmy Hendrix, whom I love! As I walked around I ended up in the hip hop section and looked through for a few minutes. I saw the iconic black & yellow Wu-Tang symbol and it brought it all back! Greatest hip hop group of all time! This is legendary music to all you youngsters out there!

After I spent $40 on some of the classic stuff, I returned home and a light bulb came on! Why not do Wu-Tang Clan figures!? So I then thought of Wu Chronicles album art that had monks in various stances, thought that would be cool.

Then I found the comic book from the late 90s,
 The 9 rings of Wu-Tang!
I had totally forgot about this. The comics weren't around very long and didn't make a whole lot of noise when they came out back then. Even now you can hardly find them anywhere besides eBay.

I decided to go with this version as my concept for figures. This way to exciting, I also decided to do these in a 6-8" size rather than my usual 4". This is Wu-Tang, go big or not at all!
I ordered 9 Marvel Legends figures for base figures and am awaiting their arrival. I plan to also do Cappadonna, Shyheim and Killah Preist for a total of 12 figures!
Wu-Tang Forever!

Marvel Universe Dormammu!

DORMAMMU!

Hey guys, ive wanted to do this character for a long time now. With the Dr. Strange movie coming figured nows a good time. One reason why I hadn't made the figure before now is I couldn't find the parts or base figure I wanted. I still didn't find the right parts and didn't want to do a Marvel Legends remake of that figure so I went for the full Frankenstein.

I went through my fodder and found Marvel Legends Klaw.

The head seemed like itd be fun so I saved it for last.

Klaw has the one forearm so I just swapped both out with Baron Zemo
forearms and dremeled the cuff down.

Feet first! Started with the feet, because I was trying the tape technique for the armor.

I used parts from MU Nova
for armor.

Here on the torso, chest, back and legs is the armor look and started working the shoulder pads. I made sure all the articulation was still in tact and started the details.

Got the face sculpt done and came up with an idea for the fire tendrils.

I used some felt and the heavier weaved tape to make cape and belt. With everything assembled and attached, all left to do is a few details and finish the head .

So heres the finished figure. I used Smooth cast 45d for the fire look. 45D is a softer resin I use for hair, capes or anything I want softer than the normal 325 resin. Also when I mixed the resin I added red and yellow dye to give the fire effect.

I used a few new techniques, and it paid off. This customizing is always trial and error, you just hope for the best when your trying new things.
This is definitely one of my favorite customs so far. I think he came out great!

New MU Custom Figures

Fresh off the work bench!
Just got these MU ladies done. I wanted to focus on the Women of Marvel a bit with these new character customs.

Storm, Silk, Hellcat, Hellcat original and Spider Gwen!
Sometimes paint doest do justice to action figure costumes. I have some new techniques and ideas I wanted to try, heres how they came out.

Storm in her white costume.

It took some thought and trials on how to give these figures the right look without using paint. I ended up using different types of athletic tape and medical tape for these figures.

This costume was important for my collection, it was the first costume I knew of Storm. The X-Men Animated series featured this variant and I fell in love with it!

Silk!

Silk is a newer character and although Marvel Legends has a figure out, itll be a while before MU makes one and when they do, the costume will just be a plain all black figure with a weak paint job.

For this figure I went with the newer weave tech looking suits you see Spiderman and Black Panther wearing in the MCU. These figures are 3.75" and ill be the first to tell you this tape technique is not easy for the size! It is however well worth it!

Spider-Gwen!

Gwen is also a newer character as well. This suit came out really nice! I used 3 different types of tape on this one. The weave pattern in the off white tape is perfect too. The hood was easier than expected, and I just love the design of the costume its self.

I first thought the tape would prevent the figures from having full articulation, but as you can see that's not the case. I trimmed and cut all joints or any where there might be the usual paint rub and it came out nice and even. This may help you if your having paint rub problems.

 Hellcat original

After watching Dare Devil on Netflix, I got interested in Hellcat. I hadn't read much on her before this series and wanted to do a figure for her as well.

I found two of the same pony tails for her since I knew I wanted to do both costumes. The mask and ears are sculpted on both figures. These two figures were very easy to do. Makes me crazy that the MU line wont make these characters that they already have molds to, that collectors would love to have in their collections. Ill just continue to make mine!

Hellcat

Although the two Hellcat figures are somewhat plain, they were fun to make, and im glad I chose both variants now, then to have to go back and make the other later.

Heres all female Toybox Laboratory customs to date.  I have in the works; Rachel Sommers, Hope Sommers, Shuri, Dazzler, Rescue, White Tiger, Madame Mask, Hela, Moon Star and Caiera.
Feel free to share any suggestions
on who else youd like to see.
