Fresh off the work bench!
Just got these MU ladies done. I wanted to focus on the Women of Marvel a bit with these new character customs.
Storm, Silk, Hellcat, Hellcat original and Spider Gwen!
Sometimes paint doest do justice to action figure costumes. I have some new techniques and ideas I wanted to try, heres how they came out.
Storm in her white costume.
It took some thought and trials on how to give these figures the right look without using paint. I ended up using different types of athletic tape and medical tape for these figures.
This costume was important for my collection, it was the first costume I knew of Storm. The X-Men Animated series featured this variant and I fell in love with it!
Silk!
Silk is a newer character and although Marvel Legends has a figure out, itll be a while before MU makes one and when they do, the costume will just be a plain all black figure with a weak paint job.
For this figure I went with the newer weave tech looking suits you see Spiderman and Black Panther wearing in the MCU. These figures are 3.75" and ill be the first to tell you this tape technique is not easy for the size! It is however well worth it!
Spider-Gwen!
Gwen is also a newer character as well. This suit came out really nice! I used 3 different types of tape on this one. The weave pattern in the off white tape is perfect too. The hood was easier than expected, and I just love the design of the costume its self.
I first thought the tape would prevent the figures from having full articulation, but as you can see that's not the case. I trimmed and cut all joints or any where there might be the usual paint rub and it came out nice and even. This may help you if your having paint rub problems.
Hellcat original
After watching Dare Devil on Netflix, I got interested in Hellcat. I hadn't read much on her before this series and wanted to do a figure for her as well.
I found two of the same pony tails for her since I knew I wanted to do both costumes. The mask and ears are sculpted on both figures. These two figures were very easy to do. Makes me crazy that the MU line wont make these characters that they already have molds to, that collectors would love to have in their collections. Ill just continue to make mine!
Hellcat
Although the two Hellcat figures are somewhat plain, they were fun to make, and im glad I chose both variants now, then to have to go back and make the other later.
Heres all female Toybox Laboratory customs to date. I have in the works; Rachel Sommers, Hope Sommers, Shuri, Dazzler, Rescue, White Tiger, Madame Mask, Hela, Moon Star and Caiera.
Feel free to share any suggestions
on who else youd like to see.
